Karate Tournament Competitions

Competition is an excellent way to build confidence in one's ability. Competition allows students to test their ability in a fair and safe environment with expert judges. Competing in martial arts is an extraordinary experience.

Watching a karate tournament is enough to make any parent or enthusiast appreciate the time and commitment involved in gaining mastery in their art.

If you have seen the movie, "Karate Kid" you have witnessed the logistical aspects of a karate tournament. However, sportsmanship (unlike the movie) is held to a world-class level. Participant behavior is respectful at all levels of competition including sparring, kata and weapons competition.

Competing in tournaments is not a requirement for belt promotion, however, given the benefits of competing in tournaments, it is strongly encouraged. Competition makes students more competent in every aspect of karate and helps to build confidence

Watching kids and teens compete in martial arts tournaments is a sight to see. When a student performs kata, weapons kata or competes in a sparring tournament in front of an audience, it is often a life-changing event. Confidence in oneself reaches a whole new level.

Preparation for a tournament alone increases a student's confidence and technical skill. The execution of a tournament competition takes a student to a new level. Again, although not a requirement, regular tournament competition is an excellent way to gain competence and confidence in martial arts and in life.
