Chicago Boxing Classes

Learn the authentic art and science of boxing in a small group, private-quality coaching in a room capped at 12, so you actually learn while you train.

Chicago Fight House trains men, women and teens in real, technical boxing, the kind that builds skill, fitness and confidence at the same time. You learn the authentic art under the expert supervision of Lou Storiale, senior technical trainer and former U.S. Army Infantryman (3rd Infantry, The Old Guard). Our methods are easy to understand because we know HOW to teach and how to perform at a high level.

Recently we trained 4 amateur fighters at a local Chicago boxing club for a 17-fight event. Each of the 4 won their fights. That was no accident, excellent training, excellent coaching and difference-making strategy between rounds.

Class Schedule

  • Mondays & Wednesdays: 6:30–7:30pm
  • Saturdays: 11:30am–12:00pm start, 1 hour (available upon demand)

What Makes Our Classes Different

Our boxing class is NOT cardio boxing, the aerobics-with-punches routine you find in a room of 20 to 30 people following along to a screen. Every class is capped at 12 students (usually 8), so you get real coaching, real corrections, and real progress. You learn the same techniques taught in a private session and get to train with others at your level, the fast and most affordable way to learn in a fun environment.

  • Small by design. A 12-student cap means the coach actually sees your hands, your stance and your footwork, and fixes them on the spot.
  • Private-quality instruction. You learn the same techniques taught one-on-one, at a group rate.
  • Train with others at your level. Working alongside other students builds timing, rhythm and accountability you can’t get hitting a bag alone.
  • A real workout. Every session blends technique with conditioning, so you leave having learned something and having earned a sweat.

Who It’s For

Whatever your goal, the same technical foundation gets you there. Most of our students fall into one of three camps:

  • Amateur boxers, the fastest way to technical mastery, weight loss and real fitness if you want to compete.
  • White collar & beginner boxers, just starting out or thinking about it? White collar boxing isn’t only for accountants, lawyers and doctors. Electricians, police officers, firefighters, plumbers, students, every walk of life trains and competes. Tired of the same old workout? This is the cure.
  • Anyone who wants to get in real shape, boxing is the best total-body workout there is, and you pick up a genuine skill while you do it.

How You’ll Progress

We Begin With Fundamentals

Learning the fundamentals eliminates bad habits early, so we concentrate on them in the first few weeks:

  • Boxing stance
  • Proper punching technique
  • Basic defense
  • Movement and punches
  • How to increase hand speed in under 5 minutes
  • Power-punch techniques for fast, effortless knockouts

Intermediate Boxing Training

Combinations and defense become the focus after the first few lessons:

  • Slipping punches
  • Blocking punches
  • Punching drills and combinations
  • Heavy bag rounds
  • Punching mitts
  • Sparring drills (non-contact)

Advanced Boxing Training & Fitness

After the first month we do all of the above plus integrate fitness and cardio training with boxing movement, combinations and defense:

  • Anaerobic cardio training
  • 4 to 6 punch combinations
  • Working with weights and dumbbells for speed and power
  • Mirror work and shadow boxing
  • Jump roping for boxers
  • Hard core abs workout
  • Medicine ball exercises
  • Performance stretching
  • Agility training

A Total-Body Workout

For over 200 years boxing has been the number-one sport for the fittest athletes in the world. Unlike running, swimming, basketball or football, boxing delivers the total package, health, fitness, endurance and strength, in one workout. It combines aerobic and anaerobic training: excellent for weight loss, fat loss and lean-muscle building.

Each of these exercises is an excellent way to increase your cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance, resulting in rapid fat loss and increases in lean muscle mass that contribute to your weight loss and fitness goals:

  • Running
  • Jumping rope
  • Calisthenics
  • Pushups
  • Sit-ups
  • Plyometrics
  • Heavy bag
  • Slip bag
  • Speed bag
  • Footwork training
  • Mitt and pad striking
  • Defensive training movements
  • Timed intervals
  • Speed and power exercises
  • Mentored sparring (only if you want)

What to Bring

No experience needed, and you don’t need to be in shape to start. Just show up ready to move. For your first class bring:

  • Water bottle
  • Comfortable clothes and gym shoes
  • Hand wraps
  • Mouthpiece (sparring only)
  • Groin protection

Not sure what gear to get? See the Gear We Recommend page for the basics, or just come as you are for the first session.

Train Safely

Sparring is always optional and progressive. It starts light and slow and builds gradually as your skills and comfort grow, so you spar at whatever level is right for you. Looking for the conditioning drills we use? See our Boxing Workouts in the Boxing Info section.
